KUMAMOTO (TR) – Kumamoto Prefectural Police are hunting for a masked assailant who left an elderly woman battered after a daytime attack in a densely packed residential neighborhood of Kumamoto City on Monday, reports TV Asahi (Sep. 29).
At approximately 11:00 a.m., authorities received an emergency call from the victim, 75, who reported, “I was punched by a masked man.”
According to investigative sources, the suspect — dressed entirely in black pants, a long-sleeved black shirt, and a black mask — entered an office where the woman was present. Following a brief exchange, the man struck the elderly woman in the face and immediately fled the scene.
The violent assault shocked locals in the quiet neighborhood. “When the police car arrived, the lady came out. She was covered in blood and talking on the phone,” one witness recounted.
The witness added that when officers approached and asked what happened, the frantic victim cried out, “Robbery, robbery!” When police asked which way the attacker went, she pointed toward the rear of the property. Moments later, the area was swarming with patrol vehicles.
Despite the victim’s panic, investigative sources say that it appears nothing was actually stolen from the office. Police are currently tracking the whereabouts of the masked suspect.
