TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have re-arrested two unemployed men for allegedly breaking into an apartment, robbing a woman and sexually assaulting her while pretending to act as hired “revenge proxies,” reports Jiji Press (Aug. 12).
Satoshi Murakami, 46, and Yukio Kaji, 42, are accused of breaking into a first-floor apartment in Setagaya Ward between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on March 28. Armed with a knife, the pair allegedly threatened a female resident in her 20s, sexually assaulted her, and made off with approximately 10,000 yen in cash.
According to police, the duo attempted to mask their motives by telling the terrified victim they had been “asked to come” to carry out a revenge plot against her.
Upon questioning, Murakami admitted to the charges, while Kaji has remained silent.
“I will protect you”
In a bid to delay the woman from contacting the authorities, Kaji extracted her contact information and sent her manipulative messages after the attack. Texts included threats and false assurances such as, “The revenge proxy is still active,” and “I will protect you.”
The two suspects were already in custody following a previous arrest for breaking into another residence, where they attempted to rob and sexually assault another woman and her child. Police believe the pair has carried out a string of similar offenses.
Demonstrating a lack of remorse, one of the suspects reportedly told investigators, “We figured we’d get caught anyway, so we decided to go all out. As long as we got money and satisfied our sexual desires, that was all that mattered.”
