NAGASAKI (TR) – Prosecutors in Nagasaki City have indicted a 41-year-old waterproofing contractor for violently assaulting an employee who attempted to quit his job, including beating him over the head with a desk lamp, reports Nagasaki TV (Aug. 5).
Takaya Uchino was formally charged with inflicting bodily injury by the Nagasaki District Public Prosecutors Office on August 5.
According to the indictment, the assault took place in mid-May. In an attempt to force a male employee in his 40s to abandon his plans to resign, Uchino allegedly punched the man in the face multiple times. After the victim fell to the floor, Uchino stomped on his face several times before striking him in the head with a desk lamp, leaving him injured.
Uchino’s wife had initially been arrested and referred to prosecutors as an accomplice in the brutal beating. However, the prosecutor’s office announced they have dropped the charges against her, citing “the contents of the relevant evidence.”
The couple was also linked to a separate hazing incident the following month.
In June, Uchino and his wife were arrested on suspicion of coercion and non-consensual indecency against a male employee, also in his 40s. Police allege the couple threatened the man, stripped him completely naked, and fitted him with a harness before forcing him to scale a 10-meter-high utility pole and cross the live power lines with his bare hands.
Prosecutors confirmed that charges against Uchino’s wife regarding the utility pole incident have also been dropped.
