Nijiro Murakami accused of assaulting girlfriend in Shinjuku

Actor Nijiro Murakami, who has appeared in a number of dramas and films, has been referred to prosecutors for allegedly severely injuring a woman he was dating at the time at his home in the capital, according to sources close to the investigation, reports NHK (June 26).

According to sources, Murakami, 29, is suspected of assaulting the woman he was dating at the time four times at his home in Shibuya Ward two years ago.

He allegedly grabbed her hair, slammed her head against a window and punched her, causing her serious injuries.

He has been accused of inflicting injury.

Police launched an investigation after the woman confided in them this year. Murakami has reportedly admitted to causing the injuries during voluntary questioning.

According to his agency’s website, Murakami made his acting debut in the 2014 film “Still the Water.”

Since then, the Tokyo native has appeared in many dramas and films, including “Alice in Borderland” and the NHK serial drama “Come Come Everybody.”
