CHIBA (TR) – Police here have arrested a 33-year-old elementary school teacher for secretly filming a man’s lower body inside a men’s restroom at a railway station in Funabashi City, reports TBS News (June 2).
Yuta Murakami, a teacher at Funabashi Municipal Shibayama-nishi Elementary School, is accused of using his smartphone to record video of a company employee in his 30s at JR Nishi-Funabashi Station at around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.
According to police, Murakami stood at the urinal to the immediate right of the victim and held his smartphone in his left hand to capture the tosatsu (voyeur) footage.
The victim quickly noticed he was being recorded and physically subdued Murakami on the spot. Station staff alerted the authorities, and responding officers arrested the teacher red-handed.
Upon his arrest, Murakami admitted to the allegations, telling investigators he was seeking an adrenaline rush. “I filmed him like a game to enjoy the thrill of seeing if I could get a good shot,” he was quoted as saying.
Police are currently analyzing his device to determine if he has been involved in other similar offenses.
