TOKYO — The glittering lifestyle of a prominent influencer has come to a crushing end following a massive tax evasion scandal, taking her marriage to a former pop star down with it, reports the site for magazine Josei Seven (Apr. 21).
During her first hearing at the Tokyo District Court on March 18, 38-year-old Reika Miyazaki calmly admitted to violating the Corporate Tax Law by evading approximately 157 million yen in corporate taxes. Notably absent from her side in the courtroom was her husband, 46-year-old Keiji Kuroki, a former performer for pop group Exile.
According to an entertainment industry source, the couple is now headed for a permanent split.
“They are currently advancing discussions for a divorce,” the insider revealed. “The heavy reality of the tax evasion incident has seemingly torn apart the bond of what the public widely celebrated as an ‘ideal couple.'”
Miyazaki, a businesswoman who boasts some 470,000 followers on social media, frequently flaunted her extravagant life online. Her posts were filled with ultra-luxury Hermes items, Ferrari rides and lavish overseas vacations.
She married Kuroki in December 2021, marking her third marriage. Kuroki, a key member of Exile’s golden era, shocked fans when he abruptly retired from showbiz in October 2022, declaring he wanted to “firmly support his family.”
Following their marriage, the couple appeared to be at the peak of happiness, sharing affectionate photos and welcoming two sons in 2023 and 2024. However, beneath the surface of their picture-perfect life, a massive legal crisis was unspooling.
The fallout has reportedly left Kuroki financially ruined and separated from his family. The former star has fled Tokyo and returned to his native Kyushu.
Acquaintances are deeply concerned about his current state, with Kuroki allegedly lamenting that the ordeal has cost him everything and left him without “a single yen” to his name.
While Miyazaki awaits the court’s judgment, the influencer faces not only the strict legal consequences of her massive fraud but the complete collapse of her once-enviable celebrity life.
