Anri Sakaguchi accused of stealing sandwich from convenience store

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested celebrity Anri Sakaguchi on suspicion of shoplifting a sandwich from a convenience store in Hachioji City last week, reports Nikkan Sports.

On the afternoon of March 17, Sakaguchi, 35, allegedly swiped the sandwich — with a value of 300 yen — from the store.

Upon her arrest on suspicion of theft, she admitted to the charges, the Takao Police Station said. She remains in custody.

As the incident unfolded, a store employee noticed the theft and reported it to the Takao Police Station. Officers later arrived and made the arrest.

Sakaguchi, a Tokyo native, is the daughter of popular actress Ryoko Sakaguchi. She began appearing in a number of television series after entering the entertainment business in 2008. In October 2016, she shifted gears by making her AV debut for label Muteki.

In 2018, she worked as a hostess and stripper in Tokyo and a sex worker in brothel quarters in Osaka and Kobe cities.

This is not her first brush with the law. In June 2017, prosecutors dropped a case against her in which she was alleged to have demanded payment from the same former boyfriend in return for her not distributing a photograph. The next year, prosecutors dropped a case against her alleging trespassing.
