KUMAMOTO (TR) – Kumamoto Prefectural Police have arrested a third-year middle school boy after a video showing him assaulting another boy spread on social media, reports Fuji News Network (Jan. 16).
On January 6, the 15-year-old male student is alleged to have repeatedly punched the victim, also a middle schooler, in the face, kicked him and choked him at a shopping center in Kumamoto City
The victim suffered multiple injuries, including to the head, that resulted in hospitalization.
Upon his arrest, the male student admitted to the charges. He said, “I was angry, so I used violence to injure him.”
As the incident unfolded, many other persons watched and recorded the attack on their smartphones. A video of the crime was later spread on social media.
The suspect and the victim are acquaintances. Investigations so far have revealed that there was a financial dispute between the male student and the victim. Prior to the incident, the victim was called to the scene via another mutual acquaintance.
