TOKYO (TR) – The ultraconservative, right-wing Sanseito Party made a major breakthrough in the July 2025 House of Councillors election.
As reported by Shukan Bunshun (Aug. 14-21), Atsushi Suzuki, the married Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Diet Affairs Committee, had a “secret yukata rendezvous” with a woman at a bathhouse two days before the vote.
If Shukan Shincho (Jan. 1-8) is anything to go by, Suzuki appears to be expanding his stable of side pieces, with his latest conquest being his “secretary.”
‘Public relations’
The Bunshun report said that his current wife was giving birth to their child in her hometown while he was at the bathhouse. (Suzuki and his his first wife divorced due to his infidelity.)
In the article, Suzuki defended himself. “The woman in question is a member of my support group, and we used the facility for a meeting. It was not an inappropriate relationship,” he said.
Now, a new woman is lurking within the chairman’s stable.
A member of Sanseito tells Shincho, “In fact, since the beginning of this year, he has been with a woman in her early twenties. Suzuki said that she is ‘in charge of public relations.'”
The source says that she manages his official social media accounts and arranges the text for his national policy briefings.
“She even drives him around,” the same source says.
Getting cozy at an arcade
However, it was Suzuki behind the wheel of a white van when they left Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture on afternoon of December 13, according to Shincho
They got on the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line and headed to the Umihotaru Parking Area around 5:30 p.m. They enjoyed playing a crane game at an arcade while getting cozy, and won a trash can as a prize.
They then headed toward Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. Suddenly, their van made a U-turn and crashed into an obstacle on the opposite side of the road.
The front bumper on the driver’s side was badly smashed, leaving the tire exposed. Suzuki’s mistress looked anxiously from the passenger seat as he sat at the wheel.
Local police arrived shortly after. However, Suzuki later drove the wrecked vehicle onward, arriving at a hotel on the coast of Asahi City, known for its natural hot springs and with ocean views from all rooms.
“Unusual relationship”
Suzuki does not seem to mind that his dirty laundry is on full display.
When he returned home, Shincho confronted him directly to ask about his secretary and marital status. “Please let the party know,” he said simply.
The Bunshun article claims that Suzuki is not paying child support to his first wife.
The aforementioned party insider says, “Despite having a family, Suzuki pursued [his latest mistress] out of sheer desire and has continued to deceive those around him with makeshift lies, even after the Bunshun report. It’s unclear what his relationship with his second wife is currently like, but his unusual relationship with his secretary doesn’t seem appropriate for someone involved in national politics.”
