TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 28-year-old man from Shimane Prefecture for making hundreds of fake room reservations at a hotel near Haneda Airport last year, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 16).
When Junki Sanuki, 28, stayed at the hotel in Ota Ward in November, he conveyed his dissatisfaction with the staff. Police are investigating whether this is related to the alleged crimes.
From December 16 to 19, Sanuki is suspected of making reservations for a total of 258 rooms under a false name at the hotel in Ota Ward.
As a result, the hotel lost 7.25 million yen and suffered an obstruction to their business, police allege.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of fraudulent obstruction of business and other charges on Monday, he denied the allegations. He told the Shinjuku Police Station, “I did not enter false information.”
At the time, Sanuki was a clinical laboratory technician at the Shimane University Hospital. To carry out the crimes, he connected to the hotel’s reservation site from a work computer.
Police believe that Sanuki made false reservations for a total of about 580 rooms at the same hotel in December, causing losses of over 17 million yen.
When asked about his stay in November, Sanuki said, “I’ve never had any trouble with the hotel, so I don’t understand why I was arrested this time.”
