HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police have launched are investigating an incident in which a vehicle rammed the home of a boss of an affiliate gang of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi in Kita Ward of Sapporo early Thursday, reports TV Asahi (July 21).

At 1:30 a.m., a black station wagon reversed through a fence of the home of Kazushige Aoki, the chairman of the Goryo-kai, and rammed the garage door. The driver of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

There were no reports of injuries to any persons inside the residence.

According to officers from the Kita Police Station, the vehicle was stolen from a convenience store parking lot about an hour before the incident.

The Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi formed last summer following the dissolution of the Yamaguchi-gumi. In November, Aoki withdrew the Yamaguchi-gumi. This month, he joined the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi.

Police are examining whether the incident is connected to an ongoing dispute between the two gangs that began following the split.
