TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested an executive at a technology company for allegedly using an automated service to tweet illicit images, reports Sankei Shimbun (Nov. 20).
Between June 1 and 3, Masataka Nagaoka, 32, allegedly uploaded explicit images of women to Twittbot and then distributed the content on Twitter at intervals of between 30 minutes and one hour. The tweets were accompanied by a link to a blog site featuring advertising.
Nagaoka, who used his office computer to commit the crime, admits to the allegations. “I uploaded photos of nude women because I wanted advertising revenue,” the suspect is quoted by police.
An investigator with the metropolitan police tells Nikkan Gendai (Nov. 22) that law enforcement decided to take action due to the malicious intent of the suspect.
“The images posted by Nagaoka were obscene in that they explicitly showed the vagina,” the investigator is quoted. “By having a link to his blog available, his intention was to entice viewers so that he could gain revenue via online advertising. The fact that he posted uncensored images with a for-profit intention forced the hand of the police.”
