Shibuya vibrator bar building buzz in Japan’s ero industry

Spa! Nov. 19-26

In this age of information overload, it is becoming increasingly difficult to ascertain just what bytes, blips or blurbs actually matter.

At least, those are the sentiments of weekly tabloid Spa! (Nov. 19-26), which assists its readers interested in sex — that is to say, all of them — by crunching the numbers to rank Japan’s most intriguing erotic establishments. The Tokyo Reporter provides a sampling.

For office workers in Osaka, the magazine recommends the unique hostess club Babar, which features a cast of “beautifully mature” ladies. Located in Chuo Ward, the establishment is a cafe between 2:00 p.m. and 6 p.m., with coffee or soft drinks costing a mere 200 yen. But after that, it converts into a bar, and male patrons may enter at a rate of 3,000 yen for first 90 minutes.

The magazine says the conversations at Babar are “adult” in nature, and during special events the hostesses dress in a number of customers. So bring your bento — which is encouraged as food is not available — for a little raunchy break.

In Hokkaido and short on cash? In Sapporo, a “delivery health” outfit — in which male customers receive hand and oral services from females dispatched to hotel rooms or residences — charges by the minute (100 yen per).

The magazine says that the minimum period at Dangerous is a half hour, but adds that many of its readers could comfortably blow their top three times in that period.

Last year, Spa! took a seat at the counter of a bar in Tokyo’s Shibuya district where women are encouraged to weigh in on wanking. This time around, the magazine hits a vibrator bar located in the same vicinity.

The furnishings inside Vibe Bar include more than 300 domestic and international brand vibrators, mounted behind the counter or placed atop tables. Much like masturbation bar Love Joule, guests must be women or couples. A charge of 2,500 yen is applied and includes two drinks.

Affiliated with the adult products chain Wild One, the bar boasts a concept of “see, touch and feel,” though warns that it is not a “happening bar.” There is no mention of a try-before-you-buy option regarding the merchandise. Inquire within.
