TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Thursday announced the arrest a 30-year-old male company employee on obscenity charges after he allegedly purchased the used underwear of a 17-year-old girl in Chiyoda Ward, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 10).

Officers from the cyber crime division took Akira Shibetani, a resident of Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, into custody on obscenity charges after he paid 18,000 yen for the undergarments of the third-year high-school student during an osanpo, or walking date, in the Akihabara shopping area on April 22.

For the purchase, the suspect took the girl to a private karaoke room, where she removed her undergarments and he was able to fondle the lower half of her body.

Shibetani has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “The smell of sweat in the garments makes me excited,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to Fuji News Network (Oct. 10).

According to police, the girl had posted messages on bulletin boards announcing the sale of her garments. Posing as a prospective customer, a member of the cyber division contacted the girl, who then led the division to Shibetani.
