Kanagawa cops seize 100 pachinko machines from illegal Yokohama parlor

KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested five persons for operating an illegal gambling parlor in Yokohama City, reports Nippon News Network (Jan. 14).

At around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, police raided pachi suro (pachinko slot) parlor Cats in Naka Ward and seized 98 machines and about 6.3 million yen in cash.

Police also arrested manager Takahiro Terai, 50, and four other suspects. All five of the suspects admitted to the charges during questioning, police said.

Thirteen customers who were in the parlor at the time of the raid were questioned on a voluntary basis.

Cats has been in operation since 2024. It is believed to have had an average of 70 customers per day.

Terai and his associates are believed to have generated sales of over 450 million yen over the past year. Police are currently investigating the flow of money in detail.
