OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police launched an investigation after the body of a man was found in the bathtub of an apartment in Osaka City on Monday, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Jan. 19).
Around 10:00 a.m., a neighbor to the apartment in Nishiyodogawa Ward called a police box. “There’s a house with newspapers piling up. Please check it out,” the caller said.
When police checked about 45 minutes later, they found the body of the man, of unknown age, in the bathtub. The bathtub lid was closed with household items placed on top of it.
According to police, a 53-year-old man lives alone in the house. The front door was unlocked, and there were no signs inside that the premises had been searched.
The building is located in a residential area approximately 800 meters southwest of Dekijima Station on the Hanshin Namba Line.
Police will use the results of an autopsy to determine the man’s identity and the cause of death. The case is being treated as the result of foul play.
