Corpse of man with stab wounds found in Osaka apartment

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police launched an investigation after the body of an elderly man with multiple stab wounds was found in an apartment in Osaka City on Wednesday, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Mar. 19).

At around 12:30 p.m., the fire department reported to police that the elderly man was found collapsed face-up in the apartment, located inside a building in Higashiyodogawa Ward. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the body had multiple stab wounds to the upper body. There were no signs of a forced entry into the apartment. Although the front door was locked, the balcony window was open.

The 80-year-old man who lives alone in the apartment is currently unaccounted for.

Thats same day, a management company employee visited the apartment to check on his well-being. After making the discovery, the employee contacted the fire department.

Police are working to identify the body while investigating the case as either the result of foul play or an accident.

The scene of the crime is a residential area with many apartment buildings, located about 150 meters east of JR Higashiyodogawa Station.
