Suffocation cause of death of man found dead in Nagoya hotel

AICHI (TR) – The cause of death of a man found dead in a hotel in Nagoya last week was suffocation, police said. The case is now being treated as murder, reports Nippon News Network (June 9).

On June 7, police responding to a distress call arrived at Hagu Hagu Sakae-II in Naka Ward and found Hisamichi Kurita, a 32-year-old office worker from Kasugai City, collapsed on the bed.

Police previously said that he was shirtless and lying face-down. There were bloodstains on the sheets that appeared to be from a nosebleed.

In the latest development, police said on Sunday that the results of an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be asphyxiation due to strangulation. As a result, the case is now being treated as murder.

According to police, Kurita had been drinking with colleagues in Nagoya on the night of June 6. The following morning, his wife contacted his company after he did not return home.

Police believe that Kurita was involved in an incident after entering the hotel.
