Aichi cops: Nude corpse found in moat of Nagoya Castle

AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of male corpse in a moat at Nagoya Castle, reports Nikkan Sports (Nov. 1).

At around 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday, a visitor to the castle alerted emergency services after spotting a fully nude male collapsed in a dry moat.

Officers from the Naka Police Station arriving at the scene found the man in some bushes near scattered garbage. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

The man is believed to be aged in his 60s or 70s. The body did not exhibit any external wounds. No personal items were found in the immediate area.

The location of the discovery is not far from the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, which hosts the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament each summer.

Police are now seeking to confirm the identity of the man and determine the cause of death.
