AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a male Iranian national in the stabbing death of a fellow countryman on a street in Nagoya on Wednesday, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Mar. 16).

Police arrested Alireza Ahmadian, a 24-year-old resident of Kitanagoya City, on charges of murder in the stabbing death of Nader Mohammadkhani, a 43-year-old resident of Toda City, Saitama Prefecture.

At around 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, police were tipped off about “a man collapsed and bleeding” on a road in the Kusunoki area of Kita Ward. The victim, later identified as Mohammadkhani, was transported to a nearby hospital with wounds to the head. He was confirmed dead shortly after arrival.

The results of an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be shock resulting from loss of blood.

According to the Nishibiwajima Police Station, Mohammadkhani had been drinking at Ahmadian’s residence before they both engaged in a dispute. After the stabbing, the suspect transported the victim by car to the road in Kita Ward. An acquaintance living in the area then alerted emergency services.
