SHIGA (TR) – Shiga Prefectural Police have arrested the head of a real estate agency for molesting a woman on a train in Maibara City, reports Mainichi Broadcasting System (Jan. 12).
On November 11 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Toshihiko Furukawa, the 45-year-old the representative director of Elitz, allegedly fondled the chest of a 21-year-old woman on the Tokaido Line as it traveled between Kyoto and Maibara stations.
Furukawa, who has been charged with indecent assault, denies the charges. “I do not have a recollection,” the suspect is quoted by police.
At the time of the incident, the woman was seated next to the suspect. After the alleged crime, the suspect exited the train at Maibara Station.
The victim reported the incident to the Maibara Police Station. Surveillance camera footage taken inside the station on that day was used to identify the suspect.
Elitz, which is based in Kyoto, specializes in properties in the Kansai area.
Update: A document shown to The Tokyo Reporter indicates that Furukawa was not prosecuted in the case.
