KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police have arrested a teacher for allegedly molesting a teenage girl on a train in Kyoto, reports Nikkan Sports (Sept. 6).
At around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Nagi Yamashita, a teacher at an elementary school affiliated with Shiga University, allegedly reached under the skirt of the girl, 16, and fondled her buttocks while inside a carriage of the JR Sagano Line as it traveled between Emmachi and Tambaguchi stations.
Yamashita, who has been charged with indecent assault, admits to the allegations. “A train crowded with persons returning home during rush hour makes we want to be a chikan,” the suspect is quoted by the Shimogyo Police Station in using the term for molester, according to Nippon News Network (Sept. 6). “I target young girls.”
The matter came to light after the girl burst into tears during the incident. A woman standing nearby noticed the girl and apprehended Yamashita and turned him over to train personnel at Tambaguchi Station.
