KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police this week arrested a 74-year-old man over the alleged murder of his 29-year-old female roommate in his residence in Yokohama City, reports TV Asahi (Nov. 14).
On Thursday, police arrested restaurant owner Hiroshi Tanabe allegedly strangled Aoi Shida at his residence in Kanagawa Ward where she was also living.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of murder, Tanabe admitted to the allegations.

The crime came to light when Tanabe confessed that he had “killed someone.” He said that he “strangled her to death” and “she wanted to die.”
Tanabe, whose home also serves as the restaurant he runs, said he had been living with Shida for several years. Police are seeking a motive and the details of the relationship between the two.
