YAMANASHI (TR) – Yamanashi Prefectural Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of abandoning the corpse of his father by leaving the body to rot inside their shared residence in Koshu City, reports TV Asahi (Aug. 18).
Takumi Aoyagi is accused of leaving the body of his 64-year-old father untouched in a room at their home since mid-August, despite being fully aware that the man had passed away.
The grim discovery unfolded during the early hours of August 18. Police officers approached Aoyagi for routine questioning while he was sitting alone on a park bench in the city. During the encounter, Aoyagi reportedly confessed to the officers, stating, “My father died.”
Following his alarming statement, officers were dispatched to Aoyagi’s home, where they discovered the father’s corpse left inside a room.
According to investigators, the body showed no noticeable signs of external trauma. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading up to the incident.
