Woman, 3 children confirmed dead after being found collapsed at Nishitokyo residence

TOKYO (TR) – A woman and her three children were confirmed dead after being found collapsed and bleeding in their Nishitokyo City home on Friday, police said, reports TBS News (Dec. 20).

At around 5:45 p.m., the woman, 36, and her three sons — aged 16, 11 and 9 — were found collapsed at their home in Kitamachi by her husband, aged in his 40s.

The four persons were unconscious and in critical condition upon transport to a hospital where they were confirmed dead.

According to police, the husband called police after returning home and noticing that the front door was chained. Police officers and the father entered the home together.

The woman and the eldest son were found bleeding on the floor of a room on the second floor room. The other sons were found on a bed on the same floor.

A bloodstained axe and a kitchen knife were found in the room where the mother and the eldest son were found.

There were no signs of a break-in at the home from outside.

Tokyo police are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.
