Vietnamese nationals suspected of smuggling MDMA

SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested two Vietnamese men for allegedly smuggling approximately 1.3 kilograms of the synthetic drug MDMA from Germany, reports Nippon News Network (Apr. 28).

According to police, Ngo Huu Phuoc, 26, and Le Hoang Minh, 33, are suspected of conspiring with others to smuggle approximately 1.3 kilograms of MDMA, known as Ecstasy, from Germany in March of this year.

The contraband is worth approximately 6.5 million yen, police said.

Law enforcement has not disclosed whether the two men have admitted to the charges

The MDMA was hidden in the packing material of a package containing cosmetics and food. It was discovered by Tokyo Customs officials at Haneda Airport.

Police are continuing their investigation, believing that someone instructed the suspects to carry out the smuggling operation.
