Video: Bus driver smashes window of car with lug wrench during dispute

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 57-year-old man for smashing a car window with a lug wrench in Chiba City and injuring the driver, reports TBS News (Apr. 2).

The man arrested on suspicion of property damage and other charges is Yasuyuki Yanagawa, a 57-year-old bus driver from Sanmu City.

In the early hours of March 6, he is suspected of throwing the four-armed lug wrench at the glass window of a car driven by a 45-year-old man on a prefectural road in Chiba City.

Flying glass from the impact injured the male driver’s face and other parts of his body, police said.

Video footage shot from the other other vehicle shows Yanagawa exiting from his car on the road. He then retrieves the wrench from his trunk. After the other car begins moving, the suspect runs along the road and hurls the wrench.

Yanagawa partially denies the charges. He stated, “I lost my temper because I felt I had been outmaneuvered.”

The incident occurred immediately after the victim’s car overtook suspect’s vehicle, which was stopped at a green light.

However, according to investigators, another traffic light 50 meters ahead was red, and Yanagawa had mistakenly stopped following the previous light.
