TOKYO (TR) – A female employee at the Pokémon Center in Sunshine City in Toshima Ward was fatally stabbed by a man on Thursday evening. The perpetrator then fatally stabbed himself, police said, reports TBS News (Mar. 26).
Around 7:20 p.m., multiple distress calls about “a violent person” were placed from the Pokémon Center in Sunshine City, located in Higashiikebukuro.
According to investigators, the female employee, aged in her 20s, was stabbed by the male perpetrator, also in his 20s. The woman was taken to a hospital but later died.
The perpetrator later stabbed himself in the neck. He was also confirmed dead, police said.
Prior to the incident, the man had knives in both hands and entered the center from behind the counter to commit the crime.
Tokyo police are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
