Toyama cops seek help identifying man’s corpse found in park

TOYAMA (TR) – Toyama Prefectural Police are seeking the help of the public in identifying the skeletal remains of a man found in a park in Takaoka City earlier this year, reports NHK (June 25).

According to the police, a man walking through Takaoka Kojo Park in March found the skeletonized body on the western slope.

Since the identity of the body has not been confirmed, police published photos of cloth on the body and other details on their website in seeking information from the public.

The body found is that of a man in his 30s to 80s. Standing about 150 centimeters tall, he died between two and 9 years ago.

The body was clothed in a long-sleeved polo shirt and long pants. The man was in possession of a gold ring, a folding wallet, and two red and black coin purses.

Persons with information on the case are advised to call the Takaoka Police Station at 0766-23-0110.

Since 1995, 63 unidentified bodies have been found in the prefecture. Toyama Prefectural Police Headquarters has published photos of clothing from the bodies and rough sketches of the persons on its website in an effort to solicit information from the public.
