TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 38-year-old man who is suspected of repeatedly breaking into apartments through unlocked windows, reports TBS News (Mar. 4).
On December 15 last year, Yuji Fujimaki, of no known occupation, allegedly broke into an apartment in Fuchu City and stole a backpack containing approximately 174,000 yen in cash.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of theft and other crimes, Fujimaki, who live in Kokubunji City, admitted to the allegations. He stated that he used the stolen cash for living expenses.

According to police, Fujimaki entered the apartment through an unlocked window and made off with the backpack, which was located near the window, within about a minute.
A female resident, aged in her 60s, was sleeping in the apartment at the time but did not notice.
Three credit cards believed to have been stolen from other people were found at Fujimaki’s home. Police believ he may have committed around 20 other crimes.
