The suspect and the victim were not previously acquainted. Miyata, who lives in the same neighborhood, reportedly targeted the woman after he overheard her voice carrying outside her home.

During the investigation, police also discovered a wiretap inside the victim’s apartment, which investigators believe was planted by the suspect.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of Miyata’s repeated stalking behaviors, including how he managed to infiltrate the woman’s home to install the recording device.
