Ex-Tokyo prosecutor accused of extorting female suspect, living double life with mistress

TOKYO (TR) – A former star prosecutor for the elite Special Investigation Squad of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office is under fire for allegedly exploiting a female suspect for sex and money while secretly maintaining an illicit double life, weekly magazine Shukan Shincho (July 23) reports.

Masahito Nishida is accused of engaging in an “inappropriate relationship” with a woman in her 30s whom he had interrogated during a 2023 investigation. According to sources, Nishida secretly communicated with the woman via social media and initiated a sexual relationship shortly after the probe concluded.

However, sources describe the affair as less of a romance and more of a “master-servant dynamic” built on psychological manipulation. During the interrogation phase, Nishida reportedly learned the woman was skilled at massages and used the detail to lure her into private meetings, telling her, “I want you to do it for me.”

“Families”

Exploiting the woman’s emotional vulnerability after her grueling criminal probe, the prosecutor effectively turned her into his personal ATM. Nishida, who frequently complained about being broke due to his children’s tuition, forced the woman to pay for all their hotel stays and meals. He also brazenly demanded expensive gifts, making her purchase an Apple Watch and wireless earphones worth a combined 130,000 yen. At one point, he even took her credit card to cover his own dining and drinking expenses.

The exploitation eventually escalated into abuse. When the woman failed to comply with his demands, Nishida allegedly turned violent, driving the desperate victim to consult the police.

In a shocking twist, the magazine revealed that Nishida was already leading a bizarre double life. Despite being married with children, the prosecutor was secretly cohabiting with a female lawyer — a former colleague — and splitting his time between his two “families.”

“Bottom of the priority list”

Nishida initially deceived the victim by claiming he was separated from his wife. However, his psychological grip over the woman finally broke when he bluntly told her, “My two families are important, but you are at the bottom of the priority list.” Realizing she was merely being used as an outlet for his desires, the woman began to pull away.

Following an external tip-off regarding his scandalous private life and abuse of power, the Supreme Public Prosecutors Office launched a formal inquiry into Nishida in June.

Masaru Wakasa, a lawyer and former deputy head of the Special Investigation Squad, harshly criticized the rogue prosecutor’s conduct.

“Prosecutors are sometimes in a position to seek the death penalty,” Wakasa said. “Therefore, they must never lead lives that invite suspicion or allow fingers to be pointed at them by the general public.”
