TOKYO (TR) – A 32-year-old man who injured a woman during a rampage in which he wielded a hammer at his former office in Ota Ward has been accused of attempted murder, reports Nippon News Network (Nov. 7).
At around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Koki Takasu allegedly used the hammer to strike the woman, aged in her 50s, multiple times in the head at the office after chasing her around and smashing a computer.
She was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but was reportedly conscious, police said previously.
Police first arrested on suspicion of assault resulting in injury. However, he was sent to prosecutors on suspicion of attempted murder on Friday.
Takasu claims to be a former employee of the company. He has stated that his motive was that he was “suddenly fired.”
The 30-centimeter-long hammer was made of iron. He was also carrying a survival knife with a blade approximately 20 centimeters long. Both weapons were seized at the scene.
