TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a self-proclaimed male polygamist, his wife and another woman for conspiring to secretly film him having sex with a third woman, report TBS News (Dec. 16).
The arrest is the second Yohei Ono, 39, who was accused last month of confining a teenage girl in the capital for an extended period.
Police believe the series of crimes committed by the suspects netted Ono around tens of millions of yen over a two-year period.
In July of last year, Yohei Ono, 39, his wife Haruka, 28, and his former common-law wife and adopted daughter, 23-year-old Rin, are suspected of conspiring to secretly film Ono having sex with a woman in her 20s in a hotel in Shinjuku Ward.
Ono had met the third woman on social media. The suspects then posted the footage on adult video site myfans.jp for public viewing.
Upon their arrests on suspicion of violating the Law Banning the Taking of Sexually Explicit Photographs, Ono admitted to the charges. However, Haruka and Rin have chosen to remain silent.
Demanded compensation
According to police, the three suspects had previously installed a fire alarm-style camera in the ceiling of the hotel room to secretly record the incident.
After the sexual intercourse, Haruka and Rin entered the room and demanded compensation from the woman. “What are you doing to my husband?” one of them asked the third woman. The female suspects also demanded 3 million yen in compensation.
The three suspects are believed to committed crimes using the same method for over two years. Ono is believed to have earned approximately 50 million yen over that time.
Confinement
On November 26, police first arrested Ono for allegedly confining a teenage girl for approximately two months in an apartment in Hyakunincho, Shinjuku.
The girl had also met Ono online. After meeting her multiple times, he allegedly held her captive and threatened her. “I’ll kill you if you run away,” he said in forcing her to live with him.
The incident came to light when the woman found an opportunity to escape and sought help at a police station in Osaka Prefecture.
860 sex videos
Seized from one of the confinement locations were 37 smartphones, 3 laptops and collars and handcuffs, the latter of which are believed to have been used to detain the girl.
An examination of the smartphones and other devices revealed over 860 sex videos featuring more than 100 women.
The suspect’s mother, aged in her 60s, who is believed to have been in and out of at least one of the confinement sites, told reporters, “I went to my son’s house to do housework, but suddenly I couldn’t get in touch with him. I don’t know why he was arrested.”
“You’re a dog”
A police source tells Jiji Press (Dec. 16) that Ono told the girl during the confinement that she was an animal. He also put a collar on her. The source believes that “brainwashing through fear” was behind this “bizarre polygamous lifestyle.”
As their relationship deepened, Ono became increasingly violent. “I know where your parents live,” he said. “If you run away, I’ll tell everyone you work in the sex industry.”
As a result, she felt that she had no choice but to do as he said, police said. He took her smartphone and forced her to live with him in apartments in Toshima and Shinjuku wards. “You’re a subhuman animal, a dog,” he said. He put the collar on her and regularly forced her to engage in sex acts.
“Uncle Takeru”
Ono referred to himself as “Uncle Takeru,” meaning a man who gets what he wants. Haruka was known as “Penguin” and Rin as “Rabbit.”
The girl told police that Ono heard the suspect’s “plans,” which included “finding four wives and having children with them.” He also said, “Don’t let the girls go to school, make them wear maid uniforms at home and don’t let them have sex with any men other than me.”
Police are currently investigating whether any additional crimes were committed.
