KANAGAWA (TR) – Police in Kawasaki City are searching for a vandal caught on security camera destroying a hair salon’s mailbox with a sudden, violent kick, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 3).
Security footage from outside the salon shows a suspect wearing a green shirt abruptly changing direction toward the storefront before launching a powerful kick at the metal mailbox.
“There was a loud ‘bang!’ I was so startled,” a salon staff member said of the incident.
The impact severely dented the mail slot, rendering the receptacle completely unusable. While the financial damage is estimated at around 20,000 yen, the loss is also sentimental for the salon.
The staff member lamented that the mailbox had been specially chosen to match the store’s interior design. Furthermore, the model is no longer in production, making it impossible to replace.
According to local police, the destruction does not appear to be an isolated incident. Authorities are tracking the suspect’s whereabouts, linking the individual to a string of similar vandalism in the surrounding area on the same day, including damage to parked motorcycles and building gates.
