Okinawa police suspect foul play after 75-year-old woman found dead with multiple cuts

OKINAWA (TR) – Okinawa Prefectural Police launched an investigation into a possible homicide after an elderly woman was discovered dead with multiple cut wounds inside her home on Wednesday, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 22).

At approximately 11:30 a.m., police received an emergency call requesting a wellness check from an individual who reported being unable to get in contact with the woman. Officers dispatched to the residence in Ginowan City subsequently discovered the lifeless body inside the home.

The deceased is believed to be the 75-year-old resident of the property. According to investigators, her body bore multiple lacerations.

While there were no signs of the residence being ransacked or disturbed, the highly suspicious nature of the wounds has led police to treat the death as a potential criminal incident.

Investigators are currently working to officially confirm the victim’s identity while examining the scene to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
