TOKYO (TR) – An 89-year-old man allegedly elbowed a girl in her back on a bus in Setagaya Ward, police said on Wednesday.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department charged Tetsutarou Suzuki, a lawyer, with assault for allegedly elbowing the 2-year-old girl in her back while he was standing behind her on a bus heading from Shibuya Station to Futako-tTamagawa Station at around 5 p.m. on Monday, TV Asahi reports (December 14).
Suzuki is denying the charges, quoted by police as saying the elbowing “was not on purpose.”
The girl’s mother called police immediately after witnessing Suzuki elbow her daughter, police said, adding officers arrived at the scene and arrested Suzuki on the spot.
