TOKYO (TR) – Prosecutors indicted on Friday a woman who sneaked into musician Masaharu Fukuyama’s apartment last month, the Sankei Shimbun reports (June 10).
Suspect Mariko Miyamoto, 48, was arrested on burglary charges for allegedly sneaking into Fukuyama’s apartment in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, at around 8: 30 p.m. on May 6.
Miyamoto was working as a concierge at the management firm of Fukuyama’s apartment at the time, which was said to typically keep a spare key for the singer. Miyamoto reportedly used the spare to get into his apartment.
The suspect was discovered by actress Kazue Fukiishi, Fukuyama’s 33-year-old wife, who returned home and came across the suspect inside.
Miyamoto apologized and fled the scene, but was later identified via the apartment’s security camera footage.
Miyamoto told police she “wanted to see Mr. Fukuyama’s guitar.”
The Mainichi Shimbun quoted Miyamoto as saying she “couldn’t see his guitar because it was pitch-dark.”
