TOKYO (TR) – A baby girl died after she was bitten in the head by her family’s golden retriever in Hachioji City, police said on Friday.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Midori Yasuda, aged 10 months, died after her head was bitten by the 4-year-old male dog at her grandparents’ home at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, reports Nippon News Network (Mar. 10).
Yasuda died about two hours after she was transported to a hospital, police said.
The girl was crawling on the floor and playing with her grandparents, who were looking after her, when their dog suddenly bit her, TV Asahi quoted police as saying (Mar. 10).
Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, where the girl’s grandparents were also at home.
