SAITAMA (TR) – A car crashed into a utility pole that fell over and blocked a road, forcing a long-distance relay race to be postponed, city officials said on Sunday.
A male 20-year-old driver plowed into the utility pole at around 2:30 p.m. in Kobuchi City, leaving two of the four passengers in the car with light injuries, TBS News reports (Dec. 4).
City officials decided to postpone an Ekiden long-distance relay race planned for the day until December 18 due to the road being completely blocked.
Fuji News Network footage showed a mass of power lines and cables tangled around the collapsed pole, with rubble strewn about the front of the heavily damaged car.
