OSAKA (TR) – Police are investigating how a female suspect allegedly smuggled confiscated stimulant drugs out of an interrogation room in her underwear and possibly consumed some in a holding cell, NHK reported on Monday (November 7).

A woman who was arrested last month on suspicion of using stimulant drugs was being questioned at a facility in Suminoe Ward, Osaka, when she allegedly smuggled out of the interrogation room stimulant drugs that were confiscated as evidence, Osaka Prefectural Police said.

The woman likely snatched the stimulant drugs and stuffed them in her underwear after an officer looked away while they were presented to her on a table during questioning, police said.

The woman was caught with the drugs during a search, and could have consumed them while she was placed in a detention room, police said.

Police are investigating the woman for suspected theft and determining whether conduct during questioning and handling of the evidence was appropriate.
