IWATE (TR) – An elderly man has been arrested for stabbing his wife to death at the residence they shared in the town of Shiwa, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 18).
Iwate Prefectural Police arrested Ekizo Tawara, 83, is alleged to have repeatedly stabbed his wife Itsuko, 77, in the neck and chest with a knife at around 6 a.m. on Saturday.
The suspect, who has been charged with attempted murder, admits to the charges, police said. Charges of murder are expected to be added later as the investigation progresses.
Itsuko died shortly after she was transported to a hospital in Morioka City, police said.
