IBARAKI (TR) – A large, balloon-like bag fell from the sky onto a house on Tuesday, which had a timer and a clear liquid in a bag attached to it amid reports of similar incidents over the past month.

Ibaraki Prefectural Police received a call on Tuesday morning from a man reporting that a “balloon-like thing is up in the sky and it looks like it’s going to fall,” after which the plastic bag with a volume of nine meters was found caught on the roof of a house, Nippon News Network reports (October 26).

A device thought to be a timer that was turned off was attached to the object along with a clear liquid in a bag, which police confirmed was harmless.

Police are investigating the origins of numerous similar incidents involving these objects that have been reported in the Tohoku region since last month.
