GUNMA (TR) – Police arrested a man on Wednesday for allegedly bear-hugging a high school girl from behind and stealing her smartphone in a bid to stop her from alerting officers.

Katsunori Nakajima, 39, was held on indecent assault charges for allegedly shouting “shut up, stay quiet” to a 19-year-old high school girl from behind as he bear-hugged her, forcing her to fall and sustain light injuries, before he stole her smartphone on a road in Midori City at 8:45 p.m. on May 5, the Sankei Shimbun reports (October 12).

Nakajima has admitted to the allegations, telling police he “couldn’t control his sexual urges because she was my type” and he stole the smartphone “because she might report me and cause trouble.”

Nakajima was identified by security camera footage after a passerby called police.
