SHIZUOKA (TR) – Shizuoka Prefectural Police are searching for several men who robbed an elderly couple at their home in the town of Nagaizumi early Monday, reports TV Asahi (Dec. 22).
Around 1:00 a.m., the man residing in the residence called police. He said, “It’s a robbery. There were three or four men. They told me to hurry up and give them the money.”
According to police, the thieves bound the wrists and mouths of the man and his wife, both aged in their 80s, with tape and stole approximately 10 million yen in cash before fleeing.
The man managed to later go up to the second floor of the residence and remove the tape. He and his wife were unharmed in the incident, police said.
The thieves are described as all being in their 20s or 30s. Standing over 170 centimeters tall, they all have slim builds and were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.
Police are seeking their whereabouts on suspicion of robbery.
