Man on the run after stabbing ex-girlfriend in Higashiyamato

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have launched a manhunt for a man in his 50s who fled after stabbing his former girlfriend in the head outside an apartment complex, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 11).

At around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, the victim, a woman in her 50s, was about to leave her apartment in the Kiyohara area of Higashiyamato City when she was ambushed. Police say the male suspect struck her in the head with a knife-like object before fleeing the scene.

The victim was rushed to a hospital where she received several stitches to the side of her head. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the attacker is the woman’s ex-boyfriend, also in his 50s.

According to police, the victim had previously contacted authorities to consult with them regarding trouble she was having with the man. Investigators are currently treating the incident as an escalation of a relationship dispute and are urgently tracking the whereabouts of the fugitive suspect.
