TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly committing indecent acts on a woman as she was walking home in Edogawa Ward last month, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 17).
At around 12:20 a.m. on June 10, Shota Yamada allegedly hugged the woman from behind on the grounds of a metropolitan housing complex and touched her breasts and lower body.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of indecent assault, Yamada partially denied the allegations. “I was irritated by stress from work and family,” he said. However, he added, “I don’t remember touching her lower body.”
According to police, the suspect did not know the victim before the incident.
Yamada is believed to have suddenly hugged the woman from behind as she commuted home.
