FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the stabbing of his father near JR Hakata Station on Monday, reports Nippon News Network (Dec. 16).
Just after 6:00 p.m., a witness called to report that someone had been stabbed and was bleeding near JR Hakata Station in Fukuoka City.
The victim, a man in his 70s, sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated at a hospital. However, he was conscious upon while being transported in an ambulance.
Shortly after the report was made, the man’s son, Yuki Sakai, visited a nearby police station announced that he had stabbed his father. At the time, he was holding a bloodstained knife.
Police then arrested Sakai on suspicion of violating the Swords and Firearms Control Law.
Sakai is believed to have stabbed his father multiple times in the neck and other areas with a knife from the back seat of a light passenger vehicle.
During police questioning, he said, “I stabbed my father with the intention of killing him.”
Police are continuing the investigation on suspicion of attempted murder.
