KUMAMOTO (TR) – Kumamoto Prefectural Police have arrested a 36-year-old municipal worker after a woman returned home to find him secretly hiding inside her closet, reports TV Asahi (Sep. 14).
On September 11, the woman, aged in her 30s, returned to her Kumamoto City residence. Upon opening her closet, she was horrified to spot a pair of human legs protruding from the darkness.
“There was someone I didn’t know in the closet,” the woman reported to police.
The intruder fled the apartment immediately after being discovered. However, his escape was short-lived. Having left his bicycle behind during his hasty exit, the man returned to the property a short time later to retrieve it, leading to him being stopped and questioned by responding police officers.
Officers subsequently arrested Keisuke Tashiro, an employee of the Kumamoto City Water and Sewer Bureau.
Upon his arrest, Tashiro admitted to the allegations. “I had feelings for her,” the suspect told investigators. “I was interested in her private life.”
According to police, Tashiro is a relative of the victim and allegedly used a spare key to unlawfully enter the residence.
