GUNMA (TR) – Police here have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stomped on the neck of a fellow resident at a disability support facility, ultimately leading to the victim’s death, reports TV Asahi (July 11).
At around 4:30 a.m. on July 11, Hiroshi Takeda is accused of using both feet to trample the neck of Masataka Fukuoka, 40, with the intent to kill him. Both men were residents of the Shibukawa City facility.
According to police, a facility staff member on a routine patrol discovered Fukuoka lying in a hallway in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently confirmed dead.
During police questioning, Takeda denied the allegations.
Investigators believe the fatal assault stemmed from a dispute between the two residents and are currently looking into the circumstances leading up to the attack.
